1. General Rental Terms

By renting a vehicle from Safari Car Rentals, you agree to these terms and to all applicable Greek traffic laws. The renter is responsible for using the vehicle legally, safely, and according to the selected protection package.

2. Rental Period, Pickup, and Return

  • The rental period starts at the agreed pickup date/time and ends at the agreed return date/time.
  • The vehicle must be returned in the same general condition as delivered, subject to normal wear.
  • Late returns may generate additional rental charges according to active booking rules.
  • Fuel and charging return requirements follow the terms confirmed at pickup.
  • Airport pickup/drop-off and hotel delivery are available with additional location-based fees.
  • Free pickup applies only at Kos Schengen Port for arrivals from Turkey.

3. Driver Age and Licence Requirements

  • Drivers must present a valid licence and identification document at pickup.
  • Minimum age and licence category depend on vehicle type and local regulation.
  • Additional drivers must be declared in advance and approved by Safari Car Rentals.
  • Drivers must meet any minimum licence-holding period required for the booked vehicle class.

4. Electric Vehicle Note

For electric and e-mobility vehicles, users must follow safe battery charging and operation instructions. Charging misuse, negligent battery depletion, or damage caused by improper charging is not covered unless required by law.

5. Protection Packages, Excess, and Deposit Rules

Protection package details shown during booking are the commercial terms in force. Current package policy:

  • CDW Insurance Included: Collision Damage Waiver is included in every car rental quote. A refundable security deposit applies at pickup; the maximum customer excess in case of damage equals that deposit amount. The deposit varies by the vehicle's insurance group — €400 (Group A / B), €600 (Group C / D and Fiat 500 Cabrio), €900 (Tiguan group), or €1200 (Cabrio, 7-seats, 9-seats). The exact amount is shown at the insurance step of the booking flow.
  • Super Insurance (FDW): optional premium upgrade. Waives the refundable deposit, reduces the excess to 0 €, and extends cover to items normally excluded from CDW (tyres, glass, mirrors, undercarriage and interior). Daily price varies by vehicle group (€10 / €20 / €25) and is shown at the insurance step.

The CDW deposit is pre-authorized or collected at pickup as confirmed at the office, and is released or refunded after final vehicle inspection according to payment provider processing times.

6. Insurance and Protection Exclusions

  • Accidents under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Off-road use, drifting, beach/sand driving, or salt pan driving.
  • Use by unauthorized drivers.
  • Illegal vehicle use or any breach of local law.

7. Prohibited Use

  • Racing, dangerous driving, stunts, or intentional misuse.
  • Use beyond passenger/load limits or outside approved operational boundaries.
  • Subletting, unauthorized commercial use, or towing unless approved in writing.
  • Any use that voids legal compliance, insurance conditions, or protection package terms.

8. Damage, Return Condition, and Charges

  • Damage found at return may be charged according to the selected package and excess terms.
  • Charges may include repair, downtime, cleaning, lost accessories, and administrative handling.
  • Undeclared incidents and negligent use may invalidate reduced-liability protections.

9. Accident and Breakdown Procedure

  • Contact Safari Car Rentals immediately using the emergency contact number provided at pickup.
  • Notify local authorities where legally required and obtain official incident documentation.
  • Take photos, keep evidence, and do not admit liability on behalf of the company.
  • Failure to report promptly may limit or void protection package benefits.

10. Booking, Cancellation, and No-Show

  • Cancellations made at least 7 days before the pickup date may qualify for free cancellation, subject to the selected rate plan and booking terms.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the pickup date may be non-refundable or subject to a cancellation fee, as stated in the selected rate plan.
  • Cancellation/refund outcomes follow the selected rate plan and booking conditions shown at checkout.
  • No-shows or late cancellations may be non-refundable depending on selected booking terms.

11. Liability Disclaimer

Safari Car Rentals is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
